The Misfits - Box Set I.The Misfits still remain one of the most revered bands in hardcore and punk music today, despite it being nearly 25 years since their inception. There's many things about the Misfits that make them one of the premier and most essential punk bands of the 80's, and more importantly why they are still so influential now. While I'll agree that "Walk Among Us" is a good place to start if you are just getting into the band, The Misfits Box set (which features a whopping 104 tracks!) is definitely something that is essential for all fans of the band, and a great place to hear a lot of the best Misfits tunes for one low price (I saw some running for $19.99 which is a steal).
I won't go into great detail about all the songs, because to be blatantly honest there's just too much here to cover. However the great thing about this collection is that you're getting a lot of hard to find Misfits recordings like demos and rarities, as well as full lengths like "Static Age" which are remastered in excellent quality. So many of the greatest Misfits songs are captured on this disc. However the main selling point of the album is the demos and rarities. Most everything else you can run across in some place or another, but the rare demos on here haven't been heard anywhere else. I can understand Caroline's selling point on that one. That is primarily why this shouldn't necessarily be you introduction to the band, because despite having some of the greatest Misfits' songs, it's also lacking a few. Like previously mentioned, "Walk Among Us" is a more appropriate starting point. However after that The Box Set should most definitely be your next purchase. I don't know why the Misfits and Halloween fit so well together (isn't it ironic one of the band's best songs is appropriately titled "Halloween"), but they do. Every year right about now, I dust off my old Misfits collection and just take a trip back in time with this one.
There's just something about this time of year that is perfectly embodied in the Misfits music. Maybe it's just the feeling you get when listening, but this is definitely a perfect soundtrack for Halloween. If you're a die hard Misfits fan, then get this box set immediately (especially if they are running cheap). If you're new to the band or just getting into them, check out "Walk Among Us" first, and then make this your next purchase. The remastering of all the great, old tracks and the addition of "Static Age" make this well worth the price of admission. So be sure to add this to the collection, so you too can "Remember "Halloween!".(Cortado y pegado de otra pagina).
